Like flower girls, page boys are also part of a tradition that has lost its meaning. In old British tradition, page boys would be responsible for many duties including managing the bride’s train on her dress and carrying the rings for presentation to the bride and groom. Often a relative or family friend, the young boy would have some close connection with either the bride or groom.
If there is a flower girl, there is usually a page boy carrying the rings. The duty of managing a bride’s train is up to the maid of honour and if the couple has decided to exclude children from the procession, the best man is responsible for keeping the rings.
A page boy’s / ring bearer’s attire consists of a miniature suit, a shirt, a tie or bow, a waistcoat, smart shoes and of course the white satin pillow that the rings are tied to. At Legends Bridal, we have a great selection of dapper suits for children of all ages. You are not obliged to purchase a full suit, you can purchase separate pieces from us. The young boy’s wedding outfit is usually based on what the groom and his groomsmen are wearing on the wedding day.
We have a variety of styles and colours available, depending on what look you wish to achieve. If your wedding has a certain theme or colour scheme, it is a great idea to incorporate that into the page boy’s outfit somehow, either with an accent such as a tie or a larger component such as a shirt or waistcoat.
Your page boy will look handsome and cute in one of our suits. You can browse through our online gallery or come into our store for advice on a variety of options.
